Heading off to the ORSM09 as a guest of Hotcakes!
22nd July, 2009 - Josh Peters
Did the title confuse you a bit? ORSM09 is the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2009 here in good ol’ SLC. There is also a winter version for winter sports and outdoors stuff. Not being the most outdoorsy type it might seem a bit odd that I’m going but it’s a fun event and I got the event pass all through social media.
Short story I helped a friend out who does some work for a great company named c (go check them out!) and now I’m going as their guest. How cool is that?
When I’m not there I’ll continue working on the redesign for this site and I’m also working on a division of content styles between here and Shuaism. I’ll be doing a bit more topical stuff at Shuaism and saving the more detail oriented or walkthroughs for here. I feel like the personality of the two blogs needs to divided to create a consistent feel to both.
Anyways enough of that gibberish. The ORSM09 is really taking to social media and is something that is worth taking a look at, here’s a couple of links of interest:
- Website: Outdoor Retailer Summer Market
- Twitter: ORSM09
- HashTag: #ORSM09
What’s nice is that since they’re using the same twitter name for the event and the hashtag when someone does a search for just the name (ORSM09) they’re going to see not only the event tag, but also the events tweets.
They are using Twitter very well. Not only are they re tweeting everything that has that hashtag (which unfortunately can be abused very easily) to help promote the event and the attendees, but they are actively covering and engaging the people going to the event.
If you’re in SLC and going to the event look for me, I’ll be the guy with green plaid shorts, a not so manly looking beard, and doesn’t look like he belongs there.
Thanks for reading,
Josh
